Mountain Kanchanjunga is located in far-eastern Nepal on the border with Sikkim which stands at a height of 8,585 m; the third highest mountain in the world. The Kanchanjunga Base Camp trek runs inside the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area which was one of the first areas of the Himalaya explored in the 19th century. The trek weaves through abundant rhododendron and bamboo forests, dramatic mountain panorama, communities with ancient history and Mt Kanchenjunga. Trekking in this region take a little longer than most areas in the Himalayas. But the wilder unexplored corners of the Himalaya makes it more worthwhile in such rural scenario. On reaching Lapsang La pass over to the south side of Kanchenjunga, we visit the yak pastures of Ramche and Oktang where we witness impressive views of the south west face of Kanchenjunga, considered as one of the most beautiful mountain massifs in the world. This trek offers vivid views Jannu, Khabru and Kumbakarna with Kanchanjunga and Rathong.
